Hello data friends, did you know that every June 29 is celebrated Family Planning Day (KB)? The Family Planning (KB) program in Indonesia was pioneered by obstetricians in the 1950s with the aim of reducing the high maternal and infant mortality rates at that time. In 1957, the Indonesian Family Planning Association (PKBI) was formed which became a social organization operating in the field of family planning. However, its activities faced various obstacles, especially with the existence of Criminal Code number 283 which prohibits the dissemination of ideas about family planning.

In 1967, PKBI was finally officially recognized as a legal entity by the Ministry of Justice. President Soeharto also inaugurated the World Population Declaration which contained awareness of the importance of planning the number of children and spacing births as part of human rights. On 17 October 1968 the National Family Planning Institute (LKBN) was established and in 1970 the National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) was established with dr. Suwardjo Suryaningrat as head.

According to data from the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB), in 2023, 71.30 percent of couples of childbearing age (PUS) in Batang Regency are active family planning participants using contraceptive methods. This means that the majority of couples of childbearing age in Batang Regency have the awareness to manage and plan pregnancy spacing.
