Today, February 9, we commemorate the important role of the press in the nation's journey. Since the founding of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) on February 9 1946, the press has been the main pillar in disseminating information and building national awareness. This role was officially recognized through Presidential Decree Number 5 of 1985 which designated this date as National Press Day.

This year, the theme raised is "The Press Guards Food Security for National Independence". This theme highlights the role of the press in supporting food security through accurate and educative reporting. With the right information, the press helps the public understand food policies and ensures transparency in the agricultural sector. Let us support the press in carrying out its functions for the sake of national independence.
