Having many friends is recommended in Islam. A Muslim can befriend anyone. However, in choosing close friends, it is better to choose those who can strengthen each other in the goodness and values of the truth of Allah and His Messenger.

Allah SWT says in the Qur'an:

"Close friends on that Day (the Day of Resurrection) will be enemies to each other, except for those who are pious." (QS. Az-Zukhruf: 67)

May we always be surrounded by friends who always remind us of goodness and make this friendship a path to heaven. Barakallahu fiikum.
