Abstract

In August 2019 in Central Java, inflation occurred at 0.33 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 136.14. Inflation occurred in four SBH cities in Central Java, while two other SBH cities experienced deflation.

The calendar year inflation rate in August 2019 was 2.38 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2019 to August 2018) was 3.37 percent.

The main cause of inflation in Central Java in August 2019 was the increase in the price of PAM drinking water, cayenne pepper, red chili, parking rates and rice. The inflation rate was restrained by the decrease in the price of shallots, air transportation, intercity transportation, garlic and tomatoes.
