Abstract

This publication provides an overview related to human development in Batang Regency, and can be used as a reference in planning and evaluating human development policies in Batang Regency in the future. The Human Development Index (IPM) is an achievement indicator for the development of the quality of life of the community which is compiled based on three basic dimensions, namely longevity and healthy living, knowledge, and a decent standard of living. The dimensions of longevity and healthy life are represented by indicators of life expectancy at birth. The knowledge dimension is represented by indicators of length of schooling and average length of schooling, while the dimension of decent standard of living is represented by per capita expenditure. HDI figures are presented periodically every year at the national, provincial and district/city levels. Periodic presentation of HDI figures by region allows each region to know the map of human development in its area, both attainment, speed, position and disparities between regions.
