Happy International Nurses Day 12 May 2024
May 12, 2024 | BPS Activities
Hello data friends, did you know that every May 12 is World Nurses Day? There is a heroic history of this nurse's day. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has established and celebrated International Nurses Day since 1965. This date was chosen because it coincides with Florence Nightingale's birthday. Florence Nightingale was a British nurse who was a basic philosopher of modern nursing. During her life, Nightingale often spent time caring for soldiers on the battlefield.
One of the wars in which Nightingale was involved and provided service was the Crimean War. Nightingale enforced strict handwashing and hygiene practices when caring for wounded soldiers. Nightingale used to check soldiers' wounds by holding a lamp. This earned her the nickname "The Lady With the Lamp". For their services, Nightingale and her assistants succeeded in reducing the death rate from 42 percent to 2 percent. Amazing huh! Nightingale's story reflects that nursing is not just a profession, but a calling.
Then, how many nurses work and help provide excellent service in Batang Regency? As reported by the Batang Regency Sectoral Statistical Information System (SITIKA) portal, in 2023 there will be 781 registered nurses working in all Batang Health Facilities, both working in Community Health Centers and in Hospitals.
To the nurses who are always ready to help, thank you for your dedication and devotion. Because in every healing, there is a loving nurse's touch. Happy International Nurses Day! “Our Nurses, Our Future: The Economic Power of Care.”
