World Breastfeeding Day
August 1, 2024 | Other Activities
Hello data friends, it's already August. How are you? Hope you're fine!
The month of August begins with the commemoration of World Mother's Milk (ASI) Day which is celebrated from 1-7 August. Breast milk is the most important thing for a baby's development, especially the first 6 months after birth. Aware of the importance of breast milk, World Breastfeeding Day was finally established to support various parties in continuing breastfeeding. So, what is the history of World Breastfeeding Day?
According to the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) website, World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is celebrated every August 1-7. This alert aims to raise awareness and encourage action regarding themes surrounding breastfeeding. World Breastfeeding Week also commemorates the Innocenti Declaration drafted and approved during the WHO/UNICEF policy-making meeting on "Breastfeeding in the 1990s: A Global Initiative" held 30 July-1 August 1990 at Spedale degli Innocenti, Italy.
Related to this, the percentage of residents aged 0-23 months or male and female toddlers who have been breastfed in Batang Regency in 2023 will be 91.74 percent and 93.05 percent respectively. The average duration of breastfeeding for male infants is 13.32 months while for females it is 14.16 months.
Happy World Breastfeeding Week 2024! Let's support mothers together in providing exclusive breast milk for the best health of their children. Hopefully this World Breastfeeding Week will inspire more mothers to exclusively breastfeed and maintain the health of their babies.
