International Day for Poverty Alleviation
October 17, 2024 | Other Activities
Did you know that every October 17 is commemorated as International Day for Poverty Alleviation? International Day for Poverty Alleviation was established by the UN General Assembly as a tribute to the more than one hundred thousand people who gathered in Trocadéro, Paris, to call for the importance of respecting the victims of extreme poverty. They assert that poverty is a violation of human rights and call for unity to respect these rights.
Based on the results of the National Socio-Economic Survey for the March 2024 period, the number of poor people in Batang Regency reached 68.85 thousand people or 8.73 percent of the total population in Batang Regency. Although it has not reached a lower level than in 2019 (before the Covid-19 outbreak hit), the percentage of poor people in Batang Regency has continued to decline over the past four years. This trend illustrates that all programs and interventions carried out by the government are able to reduce the poverty rate in Batang Regency.
Happy International Day for Poverty Alleviation! Through this commemoration, it is hoped that the community can be more sensitive to the issue of poverty at the local and global levels. Let's be committed to alleviating poverty and realizing prosperity for all people. Come on, take a step together for a better future!
