On Thursday, March 20, 2025, the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) was simultaneously held on Jl. Veteran, Batang Regency. This activity received full support from various parties as a real step in maintaining the stability of food supply and prices through cheap market operations. This GPM is the result of collaboration between the Batang Regency Government, the Food and Agriculture Service (Dispaperta), and the Tegal Bank Indonesia Representative.
The Deputy Regent of Batang, Suyono, said that this program is expected to help the community in meeting basic food needs at affordable prices, especially amidst the current economic dynamics.
On this occasion, the Head of the Batang Regency BPS, Heni Djumadi, together with the Forkopimda, also participated in serving the community in cheap food activities containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, and vegetables. Meanwhile, local farmers presented various vegetables such as chilies, shallots, and farmers supplied eggs and broiler chickens.
Most of the products sold in this GPM come from local agricultural products managed by the Farmer Group Association (Gapoktan) in Batang Regency. The existence of GPM not only helps people get food at affordable prices, but also supports the local economy and maintains food security in Batang Regency.
