Abstract

• In September 2019, Central Java experienced deflation of 0.24 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 135.81. Deflation occurred in six SBH cities in Central Java

• The calendar year inflation rate in September 2019 was 2.13 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2019 to September 2018) was 3.13 percent.

• The main cause of deflation in Central Java in September 2019 was the decline in the prices of red chilies, shallots, chicken meat, chicken eggs and cayenne pepper. The restraints on the rate of deflation were the increase in the cost of academies/universities, gold jewelry, rice, noodles and oranges
