National Veterans Day

Hi data friends, did you know that today is commemorated as National Veterans Day. This day was established to honor and commemorate the services of veterans who have fought for independence and defend the sovereignty of the country. The veterans in question include those who were involved in the struggle against the colonizers during the Indonesian independence period and who have served in other military operations in the formation of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

The history of National Veterans Day was first initiated by President Soekarno in 1957 as a form of respect for the freedom fighters. At that time, many veterans who had fought in various wars including the Indonesian War of Independence (1945-1949) were still alive. They were considered heroes who had sacrificed for the nation's independence.

President Soekarno established August 10 as National Veterans Day as a form of official appreciation for the fighters who had fought for Indonesia's independence. This commemoration aims to commemorate the services of the heroes who have fallen and are still alive, as well as to strengthen the spirit of nationalism among the younger generation.
